How counters are found
It goes through every Pokémon and keeps the ones whose own types hit half your team or more super effectively. A count alone can't tell a real threat from something that merely shares a type, so the list is sorted by how many members each one threatens and then by its higher attacking stat, Attack or Sp. Atk. You get the total and the top 15.
At level 100 it reads Smogon's OU data, whose checks and counters add threats the type chart misses: an attacker measured beating a member counts even without a type advantage, and it gets a mark. At level 50 it uses VGC, which publishes no such data. A lightning bolt flags anyone faster than half the team, with everyone at maximum Speed.
