Tangela is a Grass-type Pokémon. It takes double damage from Fire, Ice, Poison, Flying and Bug, and resists Water, Electric, Grass and Ground. Its base stats add up to 435: the highest is Defense (115) and the lowest is Special Defense (40).

It is the first stage of its evolution line, along with Tangrowth. Its abilities are Chlorophyll and Leaf Guard, and its Hidden Ability is Regenerator. It is in the Grass egg group and can breed with 90 species. In Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl it learns 16 moves by level-up and 26 by TM.
