During the season when drift ice approaches the shore, Spheal prefers living on the ice—where fewer predators lurk—rather than the land. Its fur retains heat superbly and resists harsh cold.
Spheal is an Ice/Water-type Pokémon. It takes double damage from Electric, Grass, Fighting and Rock, and resists Ice and Water. Its base stats add up to 290: the highest is HP (70) and the lowest is Speed (25).
It is the first stage of its evolution line, along with Sealeo and Walrein. Its abilities are Thick Fat and Ice Body, and its Hidden Ability is Oblivious. It is in the Water 1 and Field egg groups and can breed with 364 species. In Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl it learns 15 moves by level-up and 24 by TM.
